Bhagwanti Pishoran's House (Rajo and her son, Mangal Sain, lived here)

The southern and western sides of the DhoanaN da Garha. The outer brick-wall of the house on the west side has small apertures for ventilation and for looking outside. Absence of regular windows of yester years on the house's front side is in line with the orthodox purdah tradition.

DhoanaN da Garha houses on its north side

From left to right: Ancestral home of Lala Anant Ram Kapur (their new and grand house was opposite to this house on the east side of mohalla); Lala Sant Ram and Bhag Suddhi's house, Lala Ram Lall Dhawan's house.

Collapsed homes in Dhoanan da Garha

Picture 057.jpg

The remains of two collapsed houses that were adjacent to Lala Daya Ram Kapur's house. A Bahri family from Bathuni lived in one house that had its front door opening into the Mohalla's compound. The other collapsed house had its door opening in the lane seen here, belonged to an elderly widow who lived by herself. The blue house at the lane's end was that of Amar's parents. It had two entrances, one from this lane and the other from outside the Mohalla in the street from the Chowk. It was one of the two Mohalla houses that had open compounds on the ground floor.
